The Litmus Test For Forgiveness

The Litmus Test For Forgiveness

I found this great snippet of information from this book ( “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind”) by Joseph Murphy. The author has put in some words on Forgiveness, which I would like to share with people reading this blog.

The True meaning of forgiveness is to forgive yourself. Forgiveness is getting your thoughts in line with the divine law of harmony, p 259

The essential ingredient in the art of forgiveness is the willingness to forgive. If you sincrely desire to forgive the other, you are more than halfway over the hurdle. Of course you understand that to forgive another does not necessarily mean that you like that person or want to associate with him or her. You cannot be compelled to be like someone.  p266

We can love people, without liking them, p267

Finally, What is the The Litmus Test For Forgiveness ? Perhaps all of us are too familiar with the notion of “tests”. We are familiar with “passing”, “failing”, getting bad grades, getting good grades etc. So here is the part that tells ourselves, if we have passed this test (on ourselves, wrt to the other person)

There is an acid test for forgiveness too. Imagine that I tell you something wonderful about someone who ahs wronged you, cheated you, or defauded you. If you sizzle at hearing the good news about this person, the roots of hatred are still in your subconscious mind, playing havoc with you.p.268

…..

That is the whole story. If you have truly forgiven someone, you will remember the incident, but you will no longer feel the sting or hurt of it. This is the acid test of forgiveness. You must meet it psychologically and spiritually. Otherwise, you are simply deceiving yourself. p.268

That’s it for today.

Cheers, and wishing you all the love, kindness and abundance of joy.
